Specialist Plastic Surgeon

Your surgeon\’s qualifications mean a lot! Every Specialist Plastic Surgeon has undertaken eight to 12 years of specialist surgical training beyond their medical training and has qualified to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) – the only institution accredited to train surgeons in Australia and New Zealand.

It is common for plastic surgeons to take extra training (fellowship training) in a specific area of plastic surgery, such as aesthetic surgery, cleft surgery, microsurgery, breast reconstruction etc.

After some time practicing, surgeons can apply for membership in reputable associations and ensure continuous professional development. Furthermore, it requires professional commitment by regularly attending instructional and scientific meetings organised by national and international organisations, such as ASPS, ASAPS and ISAPS.
